Marin's Guesthouse Caye Caulker Belize

The History of Marin's Guesthouse

John & Sara Marin are 3rd generation natives of Caye Caulker. John, a fisherman and captain since he was 12 yrs old, married Sara who raised 6 children with no modern facilities. In 1968 electricity came to the island which allowed for a few light bulbs and a fan. In 1970 John & Sara built rustic wooden bungalow's to rent and Marin's Guest House was born. John is deceased and Sara is retired after years of hard work.

When Hurricane Hattie hit the Belize coast in October 1961, Caye Caulker was reshaped and the famous split was made. We now go there to enjoy a Belikin beer and to see the sunset. Magic is the 4th generation him and his wife Michele modified and built the sun units for more comfort. We hope your visit to the island will be a great experience. Have a great visit on island time.
