The laid back island of Caye Caulker is popular with backpackers and budget travelers for its laid-back vibe, stunning reef, friendly islanders and abundance of restaurants and bars. While there isn't a proper beach, The Split more than makes up for it with it's sandy shore that's perfect for sunbathing, downing buckets of Belikins and great swimming. There are also plenty of docks spread around the island where you can sunbathe, swim off of, or dangle your feet in the water and gaze at the stars.
All the roads are sandy so no need for shoes! The three roads are aptly named Front Street, Back Street and Middle Street. The main drag is front street where you will find most of the restaurants, bars and shops. The island is influenced by many cultures including Hispanic, Mayan, Creole and Garafuna.
